about

In this rendition, there is never a point where more than two people are playing at once as the duets and solos shift sequentially through all nine players.

The first person plays alone for a period of time (approximately 40 seconds), then the next person is introduced, playing along with, and in response to, what the first person played. After a similar time interval the first person drops out. After the second person plays alone for an interval, the third person joins, playing in response to what the second person has established. The process continues with each player overlapping the previous player and passing on their interpretation/response. The piece ends at the conclusion of the last person’s segment.

about

New London Drone Orchestra New London, Connecticut

A protean collective that manifests sustained, layered, gradually evolving, timeless sound.

“Aldous Huxley once said, ‘There is no shortcut to Nirvana.’ That may be true. The aural road trip that is the NLDO brings you at least to a scenic overlook. There at the cliffs’ edge is the moment when linear time yields to the liminal. It’s like a murmur of starlings for the ears.” — Ludent Tremmel
